Settling in ...

First Peach of the Season!

Cameron is in charge of mowing - What concentration!

Another Reunion

A couple of days following President and Sister Hale's return home they were given notice that President Hale's mother was in her final hours - the thought was that she had awaited his return. He immediately flew to Arizona and experienced the tender mercy of returning and reporting to his mother his missionary experiences, thanked her, expressed his love to her and extended to her a priesthood blessing of release. She thereafter graduated from this life.

Photographed herein is President and Sister Hale and his siblings at the grave site. His mother, Ethel Mae Hale has now experienced another reunion with her husband, President Hale's father; Steve Hale. The Hales express thanks and appreciation to the many well wishes and condolences in their behalf.

Temple Ground Breaking Announced

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the ground breaking for the Ft. Lauderdale Florida Temple.

It will be broadcast live to stake centers and other designated chapels throughout the mission on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00.

Elder Walter F. Gonzalez of the Presidency of the Seventy will be presiding at this event. He will be accompanied by Elder William R. Walker of the Seventy.

Members and Missionaries are encouraged to invite their friends, neighbors, work associates and investigators to this highly anticipated and long awaited event. There remains much to be accomplished in the pre-construction phases of the temple. It is anticipated however that the actual construction phase will begin in the winter of 2011 and take approximately two years to completion and dedication.

Home Sweet Home!

Last night at 11:14PM, traveling at 581 MPH I turned and asked Elder Gay, Did you feel that? He responded, Feel what? I said we just entered the airspace of The Great Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission. Doesn't it feel great?!

Dorothy of "OZ" fame said it best. "There no place like home." I've come to understand as never before that "home" is where the heart is and my heart is in South Florida. I'm home!

Thank you! Every one of you, from the depths of my soul for your kind notes, visits, calls, text messages, emails; and above all for your great faith and mighty prayers in my behalf. They have been felt in a very real and tangible way. I express my love and heartfelt appreciation to all of you. I have felt and continue to witness the fulfillment of priesthood blessings. Each day I've asked myself the same question that we've asked our missionaries to ask themselves, "How have I seen the hand of God in my life today?" I have seen His hand, I have felt his constant and powerful influence. I know He lives!

I fully anticipate a complete, accelerated and full recovery. I have experienced a modern-day miracle. May the Lord's choicest blessings be yours today and always.

Love,

President Hale

South Florida Temple

New Pass Along Cards

Upon authorization of the use of the new temple rendering and through a
generous donation; a few thousand of these limited production
"South Florida Temple Pass-Along Cards" were produced.
They will surely be a powerful instrument in our hands as we invite
others to come (for the first time and others to return) unto Christ
Thank you! They are deeply personal to our missionaries!

Tropical Storm Nicole

Thank you for your faith and mighty prayers! We braced this morning for Tropical Storm Nicole with it's heavy rains (6-8" forecast), high winds (40-50 MPH) and flooding. It was initially forecast to come right up through the center of the mission. We prepared, hunkered down and quite frankly prayed mightily. You can see that the storm then side tracked as it approached Cuba, then moved north across Cuba, still perfectly lined up to strike South Florida and then unbelievably reversed directions and tracked due East and then moved northward; amazing then disapating south of the mission. The work moves forward; onward and upward in the Great Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission!!
